Dr. Melvin Inamasu began volunteering at the Japanese Cultural Center in 2014 upon his retirement from community medical practice. He was born in Wailuku, Maui and received his medical training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. He was a clinical faculty member for JABSOM while practicing Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine in Honolulu. He served in various capacities with the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii, Queens Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, Pacific Medical Administrative Group, Physicians Exchange of Honolulu, and HMSA during his career.

At the JCCH, Dr Inamasu has been active in the Tokioka Resource Center gathering and preserving historical stories while participating with the Honouliuli educational group and providing guided tours for the Okage Sama De exhibit.
