Mitchell Nishimoto is Vice Chairman and Retail Banking Group at First Hawaiian Bank. As head of the Retail Banking Group, he is responsible for First Hawaiian Bank's 62 branches in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.
He joined the bank in 1986 as a management trainee. Prior to his present position, he served as EVP and Chief Risk Officer and as Senior Vice President and Region Manager of the Kapiolani Banking Region. He also spent over 20 years on Maui managing branches and as Region Manager overseeing seven branches on Maui and one on Lanai.
Mitchell is a graduate of Punahou School and also an honors graduate for both the University of Southern California and the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle.
He currently serves on the board of Castle Medical Center, Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and First Hawaiian Foundation. He formerly held board positions with the Maui Chamber of Commerce, Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation, Maui Economic Development Board, University of Hawai‘i Maui Campus – Chancellor’s Advisory Council, Maui Visitors Bureau, Maui United Way, Finance Committee for the Montessori School of Maui, Maui Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui, March of Dimes, Kiwanis Club of Maui, Alii Community Care, Kula Agricultural Park Committee, and the Carden Academy of Maui.
