JCCH New Year's Mochitsuki Workshop
Let's welcome in 2023 the Year of the Rabbit!
Mochi (rice cake made from glutinous mochi rice) is one of the most important traditional foods for the Japanese New Year representing strength, longevity and purity.
Registered participants will experience mochi pounding hands-on, learn to fashion their own mochi and take home komochi (plain) and mochi with azuki (red bean paste)! The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi will host this mochitsuki workshop to welcome in the New Year with demonstration by the Konko Mission of Wahiawa!
