Eisa 101

Saturday, August 17, 2019 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i

Planning to attend the Okinawa Festival this year? Ever wondered what Eisa is? Eisa is a form of folk dance originating from Okinawa. It is a dance performed during the time of Obon to honor the spirits of the ancestors. Today Eisa is seen as a vital part of Okinawan culture. This workshop will cover some history of Eisa in Hawai‘i and participants will learn several Eisa dance numbers. Workshop will be led by Ms. Linda Asato.
