New Year's ‘Ohana Festival

The event is the state’s largest festival celebrating Japanese New Year traditions. This fun-filled event, held at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i and Mō‘ili‘ili Field, features a craft fair, more than a dozen food vendors, games, entertainments on two stages and cultural displays and demonstrations to name a few. The New Year’s ‘Ohana Festival is a great way for the community to come together and celebrate the New Year and Hawai‘i’s cultural diversity.

Celebrate the Year of the Dog with the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i at the 25th Annual New Year’s ‘Ohana Festival! 2018 marks the Silver Anniversary for the festival and this event will be the kick-off event for the “Gannenmono” Celebration marking the 150th Anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.  
Enjoy entertainment, food booths, keiki games, kimono dressing, craft fair, cultural demonstrations, and much more! Celebrate the New Year at the New Year’s ‘Ohana Festival! Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available at the UH parking structure with complimentary shuttle service to and from the festival.
